Physical Therapy for Knee Injuries
The knee is a joint that doesn't have much rotational movement to it (just a little locking mechanism at the very end of straighting). It therefore primarily follows the hip or ankle movement. What that means is that if there are any restrictions, especially at the hip and pelvis, the knee will track differently. Also, if there are neurological dysfunctions in the back or hip, then the muscles in the legs and around the knee will not be fully functioning.
We treat all types of knee-related injuries, by looking at the root cause of the problem, which is sometimes not located at the knee itself. Here are some common knee problems:
I had a previous knee injury that was aggravated by triathlon training and races. It was painful and seemed to be getting worse. Lara treated the root cause vs. the symptoms. She barely even had to touch the painful knee! I was so worried that something else was wrong be she ruled out bigger problems and treated the real issue. I was able to get to the starting line of my races pain free and my knee has been great since. I couldn't have done it without Lara's help!" -Todd, 49, Boulder
